President Stevenson and Julian Folwer examining the 500,000th book acquisition in 1953.  Already at this early date, President Stevenson and Julien Fowler were taking heat from various quarters because the Library addition had not emptied the basements and attics of other buildings on campus.  Initial discussions about the need for a more permanent solution to Library overcrowding started at this time.
